Do you like the Polo Red line from Ralph Lauren?

As me, you probably learned about Ralph Lauren colognes through our parents; Polo Green is one fragrance that brings me childhood memories with my father. Ralph Lauren has four main lines in their repertory (Polo Green, Polo Blue, Polo Black, and Polo Red), among other flanker and limited editions. Of those lines, the one I like the most is the Polo Red line of fragrances. Sadly this line is known for the lack of performance, but not all were like that. One of the fragrances within the Polo Red line that gave us good performance was Polo Red Intense, now discontinued. 

Having said all that, let’s break down what Polo Red (edt), Polo Red Intense (edp), and Polo Red (edp) smell like, composition, versatility, and performance:

What does Polo Red Intense (edt) smells like?

Polo Red by Ralph Laurent. A woody and spicy fragrance. The top notes are cranberry, grapefruit, and Italian lemon. Heart notes are saffron and sage. Base notes are amber, coffee, and wood.

Polo Red is a fruity and amber scent geared to an audience of 25 years old and up. It is suitable for working and office environments, semi-casual and casual attires, all day, every day, and the Spring and Fall seasons. It has a reasonable projection for 30 minutes and lasts about 4 to 5 hours. If the people around you get whiffs of it, there is a high possibility that you will get complimented using it. Polo Red was designed by perfumer Olivier Gillotin and released in 2013.

What does Polo Red Intense (edp) smells like?

Polo Red Intense (EDP) by Ralph Laurent. A woody and spicy fragrance. The top notes are cranberry, blood grapefruit, lemon, and saffron. Heart notes are coffee, ginger, lavender, and sage. Base notes are amber, leather, and cedar.

Polo Red Intense (EDP) is a fruity and amber scent geared to an audience of 25 years old and up. It is suitable for working and office environments, semi-casual and casual attires, all day, every day, and the Spring, Winter, and Fall seasons. It has a reasonable projection for 1 hour and lasts about 6 to 7 hours. If the people around you get whiffs of it, there is a high possibility that you will get complimented using it. Polo Red Intense (EDP) was designed by Olivier Gillotin and released in 2015. 

Note: Polo Red Intense its has been discontinued and very difficult to find.

What does Polo Red edp smells like?

Polo Red (EDP) EDP by Ralph Laurent. A woody and spicy fragrance. The top notes are ginger, cranberry, and pink grapefruit. Heart notes are clary sage, labdanum, and lavender. Base notes are benzoin, opoponax, musk, cedar, and guaiac wood.

Polo Red (EDP) is a fruity and amber scent geared to an audience of 25 years old and up. It is suitable for working and office environments, semi-casual and casual attires, all day, every day, and the Spring, Winter, and Fall seasons. It has a reasonable projection for 30 to 45 minutes and lasts about 5 to 6 hours. If the people around you get whiffs of it, there is a high possibility that you will get complimented using it. Polo Red (EDP) was released in 2020.

Polo Red EDT Vs. EDP Vs. EDP Intense Concentration, Which Is The Better Option?

The better option is Polo Red Intense (EDP). The intense cranberry scent at the opening and the amber accord at the dry down makes this fragrance the best of the line. Having said that, since Polo Red Intense (EDP) is discontinued, layering is a workaround to that issue. Below are two layerings that will work to satisfy your taste.

First layering combo:

If you like to amp up the amber side of the Polo Red line, you must combine Polo Red (edp) with Lattafa Raghba (edp). With this combo, you will have a robust amber base combined with the gorgeous cranberry opening of the Polo Red (edp). For good longevity, the spraying ratio should be one spray of Raghba and three of Polo Red (edp). 

Second layering combo:

On the other side, if you want to amp up the fruity side of the Polo Red line, you must combine Polo Red (EDP) with Guerlain L’Homme (EDP). With this combo, you will have a rich and aromatic base combined with the gorgeous cranberry and amber of the Polo Red (EDP). For good longevity, the spraying ratio should be one spray of Guerlain L’Homme (EDP) and three of Polo Red (EDP).

Polo Red Intense (EDP) is a fruity (cranberry) and amber scent, with an intense fruity opening and a lingering amber scent at the dry down.
